THE JOY OF SACRIFICING

This is my refelection of the little "big" sacrifices I do for my daughter Andrea:

Today is her fifth day to be wearing her eye patch. I understand the discomfort of wearing
an eye pad for 6 hours and there are a lot of times when she would want to take it off. I
know the importance of her wearing the eye pad to correct her eye, so I try to make extra
effort to keep her busy to take her mind off the discomfort. I spend more time
around her, giving me less time to do the things I'd rather do and this shall not end till the 6
weeks are over. I do also remember the nights when she would wake me up for a glass of
water or just to call my name and ask that I hold her hand. I am a light sleeper and the
slightest noise can wake me up. True that I'd rather deprive myself of good things if it would
benefit her better. There was one time when we ran out of cheese and I gave her the last
piece. She asked me why I didn't eat any cheese since it was the usual thing I have for
breakfast. I told her that we ran out of cheese.she then said:" Let's share the cheese Mommy"
Her thoughtfulness made my heart smile . There are several times when she would ask for
kisses and hugs at night and I would gladly give it to her even when I am about to doze off to
sleep. The things she needs may not require a lot of energy and is simple to do, but doing
them while disrupting your own work requires more than just mere strength. There is a joy I
feel every time I do make sacrifices for her. I Love her very dearly.
And our affection for one another gives us security of each other's love.
