I was on a roll, and I met some really nice guys, the kind of men who pushed my daughter high on the swings, let her win at card games, and read her books about dogs. Although none of these men was future husband-material, a couple of them became real friends, showering my daughter with gifts: coloring books, markers, and sparkly rainbow-colored Band-Aids.
