I've been waiting for this appointment, like, forever! A few weeks ago I went to my doctor and expected that she would go ahead and schedule an ultrasound and within a few days I'd know the sex. Unfortunately, the ultrasound place was backed up until a few weeks later, so tomorrow I shall find out after much anticipation and waiting. This is slightly gross, but has anyone else felt a weird cold sensation on the tip of their nipples and a very slight clear fluid emerge from them? I have, the past couple of days. Is this normal? I am 5 months. Also, I often feel a bit crampy, is this normal?

I also had to wait weeks for my ultrasound... I assumed it would be within the next few days and it was 3.5 weeks later. We have had it now, and the ultrasound tech was rude and ignorant and wouldnt tell us the sex.. luckily we decided to do a 3D ultrasound and it could only be booked for 2 days later... we went and found out its a GIRL

Sometimes they don't tell the sex of the baby because in some immigrant cultures the parents will abort the baby if they find out they are having a girl. Like among the Chinese, they tend to value boys over girls. To prevent sex selected abortions, many techs must follow a code of ethics in thier profession which prevents them from revealing the sex of the baby.

had a horrible headache this morning and didn't eat anything but a granola bar and was starving by the time I had my ultrasound at 1:30... and the tech said she could tell I hadn't eaten this morning because my boy was a bit sluggish and she had to keep tapping my belly with the ultrasound tool to get him to move. I felt guilty because I DO eat, I just felt ill this morning. I ate a huge sandwich and potato salad immediately afterwards.. we had even saw the baby opening and closing its jaws and she wrote "hungry baby" on the photo, grr. Just confessing my evil deed today, I didn't mean to do it. Now I'm sure he's satisfied. Poor hungry little thing.

Things are better; we get along a lot better though we have had a fight or two, admittedly, but over a period of several months. And never a particularly bad or violent one or anything. And I get into my pregnant moodswings and snap a lot but he doesn't mind (much, heh.) He is very excited about the baby so that's a good thing.

The ultrasound tech, while very nice, did sort of reprimand me for not eating right before I came there. She said from now on to remember to always eat something right before I have an ultrasound. My doctor never told me that. I got an advertisement in the mail for a 3D ultrasound that also cost $200 but I really want it anyway. Is it true you can really see their full features and stuff? Like what their face really looks like |

Well babies are just like us when we don't eat and our blood sugar gets low we get sluggish and tired so babies do the same thing. I would have suggested to the tech to give you some OJ or something rather than rapping your tummy with the machine lol!! And the mouth movements were probably practiced breathing movements more than hunger as babies don't eat through their mouths in-utero lol!Trust me I would have loved if any of my babies sat still for the ultrasound, my first one wasn't bad but my second child jumped and twisted so bad that the tech couldn't get a good look at her heart and couldn't confirm if she has a 4 chamber heart and I had to agonize for weeks until I had my fetal echocardiogram as to wither or not the baby had a heart that worked or not totally sucked and scared the crap out of me. Congrats on the baby boy!!! Got any names yet?
